YouGov, a global research powerhouse, has released its eagerly awaited US bettor study report. It unveils key insights into American sports bettors’ habits and tastes. Renowned for deep dives, YouGov provides data that helps industries foresee trends and align with consumer desires.
Streaming Takes Center Stage
The report probes the US betting scene, including ESPN BET’s influence and in-app feature importance. It reflects preferences across bettor age brackets. Conducted from January 5-18, 2024, the survey polled over 2,000 US bettors, capturing fresh and potential bettors’ views.
DraftKings, FanDuel, and bet365 remain top picks. Yet, bet365 is the choice for 21-34-year-olds, while DraftKings appeals broadly. More than half (51%) of bettors now prefer ESPN BET, signaling its growing allure. This new player hasn’t topped the charts yet but shows robust growth.
Two-thirds (67%) of 21-24-year-olds might join a sportsbook tied to streaming. This compares to 57% overall. Bettors seek user-friendly platforms with cutting-edge features. This explains ESPN BET’s climb and other operators’ push to innovate.
Innovation Drives the Race
The study also sheds light on what draws prospective bettors to sportsbooks. It details user preferences by age. Yet, betting streaming remains a communal activity, with many using it to enjoy live sports content.
Jeff Morris, YouGov’s VP, discusses the findings. He points out the hurdles sportsbooks face in a cutthroat market. He stresses live event streaming’s role in boosting engagement and drawing new bettors. Morris notes that operators need every edge to secure and keep customers, spurring innovation.
