“Missouri’s professional sports teams have rallied together, amassing a remarkable 340,000 signatures in support of a ballot proposal to legalize sports betting. This united front, led by Winning for Missouri Education, has brought the issue to the forefront, aiming to make sports betting a legal reality in the state. The campaign has seen support from various teams and their mascots, who have personally delivered the signatures to the Secretary of State’s Office. The proposed amendment could revolutionize the betting landscape, allowing casinos and sports teams to offer on-site and mobile betting options”

In a bold move, Missouri’s professional sports teams have united to champion the cause of legalized sports betting. A staggering 340,000 signatures have been collected for a ballot proposal, a testament to the powerful support this initiative enjoys.

Just last week, a local report from NPR Kansas City highlighted that the ballot initiative had already amassed over 300,000 signatures. The group, Winning for Missouri Education, has been instrumental in driving this initiative forward, aiming to bring the issue of legalized sports betting to the upcoming ballot.

The campaign, which garnered the impressive 340,000 voter signatures, received a significant boost from professional sports team mascots. These included representatives from the Kansas City Royals, St Louis Blues, and St Louis Cardinals, who personally delivered boxes of voter signatures to the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office in Jefferson City.

In addition to these teams, the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Current, and St Louis City are also reportedly part of the push to get legalized sports betting on the upcoming ballot.

For the campaign to make it to the ballot, it needs approximately 180,000 signatures. It now falls to Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft to validate these voter signatures before the proposal can progress to the ballot.

The proposed constitutional amendment would permit each of Missouri’s 13 casinos and six professional sports teams to offer on-site and mobile sports betting. It would also license two mobile sports betting operators in the state.

In related news, a Minnesota sports betting bill sponsor has indicated that support for a legal market is waning, with lawmakers having until May 20 to approve the bill.
