A pioneering campaign spearheaded by football icons aims to teach CPR to 270,000 individuals, potentially saving countless lives.

In a groundbreaking initiative, a team of football legends and fans, dubbed the ‘Re-Starting 11,’ have united with the British Heart Foundation (BHF) to champion a lifesaving cause. The campaign’s goal is bold yet vital: to recruit 270,000 people to master CPR within the next year. This life-affirming squad includes renowned names like Graeme Souness and David Ginola, alongside heroic fans who’ve faced cardiac challenges firsthand.

Sky Bet has committed to an impressive pledge, promising up to £3 million to bolster the BHF’s mission. This commitment kicks off with a generous £10,000 donation for every goal scored during the Sky Bet Play-Offs. The ‘Every Minute Matters’ movement encourages the public to invest a mere 15 minutes — the duration of a half-time break — to learn CPR using the BHF’s intuitive digital tool, RevivR.

Dr. Charmaine Griffiths, BHF Chief Executive, emphasizes the urgency: “Cardiac arrests are indiscriminate, striking anyone, anytime. ‘Every Minute Matters’ will empower fans with the skills to act swiftly in dire medical situations.” The campaign also aims to enhance defibrillator access and fund pioneering heart research.

Steve Birch, Sky Bet CCO, shares his pride in the partnership: “Our support for the Sky Bet Play-Offs now extends to a life-changing campaign. The ‘Re-Starting 11’ stories are a testament to the power of CPR knowledge.”
