The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) has sounded the alarm on a spike in suspicious betting activities in early 2024. A total of 56 alerts shattered the calm, marking a 12% year-on-year increase from 2023’s first quarter and a staggering 65% leap from the previous quarter.
A closer look reveals these alerts spanned six sports, 21 countries, and five continents. Football, the global passion, led the tally with 24 alerts—a 60% jump from the previous year’s count.
Turkey topped the list with eight alerts, while Asia accounted for 41% of the quarter’s total. Khalid Ali, IBIA’s CEO, underscored the uptick: “This quarter’s rise in alerts sheds light on the persistent battle against corruption, with football and Asia at the epicenter.”
IBIA’s unique access to comprehensive customer data bolsters its alerts, providing crucial evidence for investigations and punitive actions. The association’s commitment to collaboration and evidence-sharing remains unwavering.
The IBIA’s ranks have swelled recently, welcoming new members like Oddin.gg, Yolo Group, and Glitnor Group’s luckycasino.ca sportsbook.
